Grace Jeffers, Design Historian & Materials Specialist

Come hear the up-close and personal story of how one naïve yet ambitious decorative arts historian stumbled across a plastic house and changed the history of preservation architecture.

Grace Jeffers walked into the Ralph Wilson house in October of 1997 when it was being gutted for resale. She convinced a company to purchase the house and allow her to restore it and the rest of the story is history. Today the Ralph Wilson House is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and it is the only structure designated because of its use of a material. Come learn about plastic laminate, unconventional historic preservation, and how a little vision and elbow grease can indeed go a long way.
