Femenella & Associates, founded in 1993, specializes in the conservation of complex and artistically important stained glass and historic wood and metal windows for museums, educational institutions and ecclesiastical buildings.  Led by Arthur Femenella, Sr., the firm has been recognized with numerous preservation awards.

This event will be held at the Femenella & Associates shop, an 1825 red brick schoolhouse located at 808 N 3rd Street in Philadelphia, PA.

The firm currently has several projects in progress, but the focus of the event will be the conservation of an 1884 Tiffany rose window from Calvary Episcopal Church in Summit, NJ.  Once conserved, the window will be set into an isothermal condition at the Church.  This approach is extremely conservative in that all of the original historic fabric of the window will be saved and all of the work is fully reversible.  It represents the state of the art in stained glass conservation. This process has been used in Europe for the past 40 years yielding great results in prolonging the longevity of stained glass.

The program is as follows :

5:15-5:30pm: Arrive, wine & cheese will be available

6:00pm: A short presentation that describes the isothermal process

6:15pm: A tour of the shop, centered on the work on the Tiffany window

7:00pm: Retire to the Standard Tap (1 block away) and discuss our discoveries
