Bill Russell has over 30 years experience with Architectural Cast Stone having started his own company  W. N. Russell and Company in NJ and has since joined Continental Cast Stone.  Bill's achievements include serving as co-founder, President and Technical Director of the Cast Stone Institute for 15 years, Chairman of the Management Information Committee for the Architectural Precast association since 1986 and writer of numerous articles about Cast Stone for trade publications.   Bill is presently the Chairperson of ASTM Committee C27.2 on Architectural and Structural Concrete Products. More over Bill is a craftsman creating some of the finest examples of cast stone. As this product begins to need preservation there is a need for a better understanding by preservation professionals.
The progam will be divided into a tour of this modern production facility with the latest technology used to insure quality control and a presentation which offers AIA members  one HSW credit. (remember to give us your AIA number with registration).
The presentation will include a history of cast stone, the physical properties of the material, specifications and testing, finishes & colors and the manufacturing process. Structural items to be addressed are dimensional and tolerance limitations, reinforcement and anchoring details. In addition participants will gain insights into determining quality, standards for inspection and appropriate use of mortars and sealers.
