Amtrak's famous Philadelphia 30th Street Station is currently undergoing an extensive facade restoration. Please join us for a guided tour of that restoration, including scaffolding access followed by an AIA accredited presentation given by Representatives of the project team; Owner, Architect, Construction Manager, and Contractors. Space is limited, early registration is highly suggested. 

Project Details:

Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates was retained by AMTRAK to evaluate the condition of the facade of 30th St Station and prepare the contract documents for the restoration. Mark 1 Restoration was awarded the construction contract and work began in 2016.

The scope of the project generally includes the repair and restoration of all the exterior surfaces of the building as well as the east and west viaducts. The work includes repair and restoration of the exterior limestone, granite, and brick masonry; repair and restoration of the cast iron curtain wall system and the associated window sash and glazing; restoration of the clerestory windows at the exterior of the concourse; and replacement of windows in the light courts. Other related work includes blast mitigation for street facing windows, bronze door restoration, copper repairs, concrete repairs, and thermal improvements of the restored windows.

Tour Details:

Please dress warmly and wear comfortable, supportive shoes, as the guided tour will take place predominantly outside. We will not have a place to store personal items, so please bring only what you can carry.
