Monuments of the Centennial Landscape, Fall 2017 Walking Tour
Location: Begins at Pegasus Sculptures, 4231 Avenue of the Republic, Philadelphia, PA 19131
Date: 4 November 2017 10:00 AM EDT

Join us for a guided tour of the Catholic Total Abstinence Union Fountain and Vincent Pilz’s Pegusus sculptures at Memorial Hall.

The tour will highlight the history of both sites and the technical aspects of the recent historic conservation performed by Materials Conservation Co. and Zavorski Masonry Restoration. Structural stabilization design was provided by J&M Preservation Studio for the Pegasus Sculptures, and Compaction Grouting Services (CGS) developed the injection grouting technique for the Fountain.  John Bee Plumbing also assisted in servicing the fountain.

The tour will be led by Architectural Conservators from Materials Conservation Co. along with some special guests. We will walk down the historic Avenue of the Republic and survey the Centennial Landscape. Come learn about the history of a few prominent monuments in our very own Fairmount Park!

Please wear sturdy walking shoes and bring all necessary items such as sunglasses, hats etc. as the tour will take place outdoors in the open air! Bathrooms are accessible inside Memorial Hall.
